On September 28, 2022, two exemplary NYPD 46th Precinct Explorers were awarded the Detective Miosotis Familia Legacy Scholarship Award, created by the Detective Miosotis Familia Organization.

Explorers Andrwe King Mejia and Leslie Peña each received the scholarship award for demonstrating a passion in pursuing a career in law enforcement, and also exhibiting the qualities of a future exemplary NYPD Police Officer. Andrwe and Leslie each were awarded $2,500.

This year the scholarship was open to NYPD Explorers who are either: high school students enrolled in a private school, public or charter and private high school seniors entering college in the fall as college freshman, and applicants that are currently enrolled in college. There is no age limit for applicants in order to be eligible for this scholarship award.

Congratulations again to Andrwe and Leslie!
